What Is a DPF Delete on Off-Highway and Non-Road Diesel Equipment?
A DPF delete is an ECM reprogramming process that stops the engine control module from managing the Diesel Particulate Filter, and typically the EGR, DEF, and SCR systems as well. On non-road diesel equipment, mining haul trucks, ag tractors, generator sets, industrial loaders, off-road competition rigs, these after-treatment systems are frequently the source of downtime, not the engine itself.
The modification happens entirely at the software level. Nothing is physically removed from the exhaust path as part of our service; we rebuild the calibration so the ECM no longer triggers regeneration cycles, DEF dosing, or the fault logic tied to those systems. This applies specifically to equipment operated off public roads: mining sites, farmland, industrial yards, and closed-course tracks.
DPF, EGR, DEF and SCR: Why These Systems Fail on Non-Road Engines
Off-highway diesel engines run different duty cycles than on-road trucks, often more load, more idle time, more dust, and more stop-and-go, which puts extra stress on after-treatment components originally designed around EPA nonroad emissions requirements.
DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)
The DPF traps soot from the exhaust stream. On heavy-load or dusty duty cycles common in mining and construction, it clogs faster than the regeneration schedule can clear it, forcing regen cycles that interrupt work or, when they fail, put the machine into derate.
EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation)
EGR recirculates a portion of exhaust gas back into the intake to lower combustion temperature. Over time this causes carbon buildup in the intake tract, overheating, and a gradual loss of power, a pattern we see often on equipment that runs long, steady load cycles like generator sets and ag equipment.
DEF / SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction)
The SCR system injects DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) to break down NOx emissions. When a sensor fails or DEF quality drops, the ECM dethrottles the engine, on non-road equipment this can mean a machine capped at a crawl in the middle of a shift.

STEP 1: SEND US YOUR ENGINE MODEL, ESN, AND ECM SOFTWARE VERSION
Before we can build your calibration, we need to identify your truck’s exact configuration. This step usually takes 5–10 minutes.
What you’ll need to send us:
- Engine make and model (e.g., Detroit Diesel DD15, Cummins ISX15, Paccar MX13)
- ESN (Engine Serial Number) , found on the engine dataplate
- ECM software version, we can guide you through how to read this if needed
- A description of the current problem or the services you’re requesting
Once we have this, we can confirm compatibility and start building your file immediately. No guesswork, no back-and-forth for days.
STEP 2: WE BUILD A CUSTOM ECM CALIBRATION FOR YOUR SPECIFIC TRUCK
This is where most tuning services fall short. Many providers take a generic file, swap the VIN, and send it. We don’t work that way.
Every calibration we build is generated specifically for your engine model, your ECM software version, and your truck’s current configuration. We account for differences in injection timing, power mapping, torque curves, and the specific fault codes your engine is throwing.
This matters because a generic file that works on one DD15 can cause new fault codes or unstable behavior on a different DD15 with a different software version. Custom calibration is what makes the difference between a stable, permanent result and a truck that needs to be reflashed three months later.
